Honey
is not a product but a mystic universe! Its riches are beyond description.
It contains and encloses the entire nature: the sun, the flowers,
the freshness, youth, euphoria, the pleasure of living, in short
a food for the Gods, the earthy paradise.
Did you ever imagine that there is a treasury in every drop of honey? Honey
contains over 25 different sugars, fabulous in fact, each one having a different
function in the human metabolism . Among them are Fructose (as dextro-fructose;
fruit sugars), Glucose, Levulose, Trehalose, Meletoze, Dextrose(dextro-glucose;
grape sugars), Maltose, Kojibiose, Isomaltose, Nigerose, Trehalose, Genitobiose,
Laminaribiose,e.t.c. Many of these sugars do not occur in nectar but are formed
by the bees during ripening.
Honey can be called the substance of divinity: the sweet
nectar of the fragrant flowers which the bees collect, elaborate
and than after depositing it in the cells of comb, evaporate by
vibrating their wings for endless hours until it turns into the
consistency of honey. Before it is evaporated, this nectar contains
approximately 90% of water. So much of work is involved in processing
this nectar that a bee in her entire life, of five weeks, can hardly
make more than a teaspoon of honey. The combined flights of thousands
of bees add up to seven million miles or 300 times around the earth
to produce just one pound of honey. A bee travels often more than
three miles in search of flowers.
Honey
is a unique food. It is a living, organic, instant energy building
food, an antioxidant containing all the essential minerals necessary
for life: seven vitamins of the B complex group, aminoacids and
enzymes. Honey goes into the blood stream in fifteen minutes, while
ordinary sugar, a chemical saccharose, is completely indigestible,
absolutely dead and harmful. It takes from 2-4 hours of hard work
by the human system to invert and convert this chemical saccharose
into simpler digestible form of glucosides, and than assimilate,
exhausting the human system. Sugar is a poison, a 100% chemical,
one of the 3 killer foods, as Dr. Paul Carlton wrote in his book
"The three killer foods". Honey produces more energy than its weight
and in doing so it uses part of the accumulated fat and cholesterol.
It therefore is excellent in any weight reduction plan.
Honey is the oldest sweet known to mankind with a long, extremely interesting
and fascinating history. Honey contains so many minerals, vitamins, enzymes and
inhibine, a newly find antibacterial agent that acts like penicillin, and other
antibiotics, killing microbes and germs that is correctly called a medicine; the
elixir of life. It has been used as medicine for millenniums and is still used
in prescriptions for cold. Honey is a mild laxative which helps digestion. Dr.
Jarvis in his best seller book "Folk Medicine" recommends honey and apple cider
vinegar for health and strength, taken many tines a day.
Honey improves the taste of food; try a teaspoon of honey in cooking
and see how tasty and flavorful the food becomes.
What Bible said? - "The promised land that flows milk and honey".Honey
is a perfect food. Bible mentions honey 68 times. "The promised land that flows
milk and honey". Why not use a glass of water with a little honey dissolved in
it with a few drops of lemon juice as a thirst quencher instead of carbonated
drinks, sodas, colas and the like which destroys the teeth and the lining of the
stomach resulting in cavities, ulcers and the like?
"human life up to 500 years..."In one of the most ancient books of medicine
of India, "Yadjour Veda" (The book of life) as well as the book of "Manou" it
is written that it is possible to prolong human life up to 500 years with a regimented
diet of pollen filled comb and honey.
"Honey has an exceptional influence on the human organism." the great
ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle said
Hippocrates, the father of scientific medicine prescribed honey in the treatment
of colds, coughs, rheumatism, insect, serpent and animal bites, wounds and a host
of other ailments. He considered honey of a great nutritive value and a must for
beauty.
Pythagoras, the ancient Greek mathematician, philosopher and author, in his
books affirms that honey has remarkable therapeutic properties and his disciples
followed a strict regimented diet of vegetables, almonds, nuts, figs and Honey.
The great sage of Central Asia, Abou Ali Ibn Sina, also known as Avicenna,
was utilizing honey and other product of hive successfully. In his medical book
we find dozens of prescriptions based on honey. Among them we read that honey
fortifies the hart, recreates vigor, helps digestion, improves the appetite, reinforces
the memory, helps and improves sexual deficiency, lifts the spirit and is reservoir
of eternal youth.
